Starbases are orbital structures that are a faction building that are visible on the tactical map providing tactical and functionality to the faction it is owned by. These are done through faction motions. When building a Starbase that has no starport will be named “outpost” can not be docked upon. These are defensive outposts only! Name will be displayed “starbase” if one is present. “Outpost” if not!

Construction

Step 1: The faction government motion to commission the orbital builder ship. This motion requires a 50% approval rate in order to pass and costs about 1.5 million credits. It will be commissioned towards a specific player.

Step 2: The ship requires 100 Command to control it and is counted as a rank 5 ship. It will be placed in your Home Starbase private parking of the player that it was commissioned to.

Step 3: Players must move the Orbital Builder to the system where you want to construct your Starbase. You must orbit a planet to do so. The faction also must have 100% control over that system or it will not be able to build. The starbase builder changes gradually into a starbase with 100.000 health. It grows health like a planet does every 10 minutes. A starbase regens 10% of its health every hour.

Function: Platform to build upgrades and act as an orbital station. CommArray and Hyperlane Upgrades automatically included.

Upkeep

Every upgrade to the Starbase has maintenance/upkeep. The upkeep is being withdrawn from the Faction Funds. When there are no funds to satisfy the upkeep of the Starbase the upgrade goes offline every hour following missing upkeep. Balancing and planning are therefore very important!

Starbase Upgrades

Every starbase upgrade gives it more functionality and strategic value. These are commissioned by Council/leadership of the faction it belongs to. They have an upfront when commissioning followed by recurring upkeep. These upgrades can be found on the Starbase page beneath player actions.

Commissioning Upgrades

Step 1: Government motion to commission an Upgrade. The motion has 2 dropdowns and a Notes field, like the “Buy Ship Motion”. The first dropdown is the list of Starbases. The second is the list of Upgrades.

Step 2: Requires a 50% motion to pass, and costs the faction an amount equal to the Cost listed below at the point the motion passes.

Step 3: When it passes, the Upgrade is listed on the Starbase screen, and it begins functioning immediately.

Removing Upgrades

Step 1: Government motion to remove an Upgrade. The motion has 2 dropdowns and a Notes field, like the “Buy Ship Motion”. The first dropdown is the list of Starbases. The second is the list of Upgrades.

Step 2: Requires a 50% motion to pass, has no cost.

Step 3: When it passes, the Upgrade is removed on the Starbase screen, and it ceases functioning immediately.

Upgrade List

CommArray

Cost: Automatically built when the starbase is built
Upkeep: 100 credits
Prereq: None
Function: Sends a message to the Faction Discord channel and the in-game Faction Chat when a planet or the starbase in the system is under attack.

Hyperlane Beacon

Cost: Automatically Built when the starbase has 250,000 credits
Upkeep: 100 credits
Prereq: N/A
Function: Friendly ships who enter from hyperspace appear near the Starbase.

Scanning Platform (Cloak Disruptor)

Cost: 500,000 credits
Upkeep: 500 credits
Prereq: N/A
Function: In a 250mkm area around the structure, cloaks cannot be reengaged after they have been dropped.

Long Range Defense Platform

Cost: 300,000 credits
Upkeep: 300 credits
Prereq: N/A
Function: Ranged defence and Support for faction ships.
Description: Total Output of 30 at long range.
15 x Output 2 weapons, Range 500,

Mid Range Defense Platform

Cost: 300,000 credits
Upkeep: 300 credits
Prereq: N/A
Function: Ranged defence and Support for faction ships.
Description: Total output of 45 at mid-range.
9 x Output 5 weapons, Range 125,

Close Range Defense Platform

Cost: 300,000 credits
Upkeep: 300 credits
Prereq: N/A
Function: Ranged defence and Support for faction ships.
Description: Total output of 60 weaponry at short range.
3 x Output 10, Range 75
2 x Output 15, Range 50

Spaceport

Cost: 500,000 credits
Upkeep: 500 credits
Prereq: 1 Defense Upgrade
Function: Grants ships in the system the ability to “Move to Dock”. Players docked at the starbase will be able to Disembark from the ship, Commission new ships, Sell ships, and Park their ships.

Trade Station

Cost: 100,000
Upkeep: 100
Prereq: Spaceport
Function: Players can sell and unload minerals at the starbase.

Cloning Station

Cost: 250,000
Upkeep: 250
Prereq: Spaceport
Function: When a player dies in the system, they are now resurrected at the starbase
