Ores are mined from planetoids and asteroid belts either by constructing a Surface Miner or through the use of a player ship equipped with a Mining module.

Each planetoid has a limited storage capacity. The capacity can be increased by constructing new buildings:

Building Storage
Surface Miner +75/level
Warehouse District +150/level
Reprocessor +500/level

Refining

Mined ores can be refined at Starbases which breaks them down into minerals and components that can then be sold to players on the market or directly and instantly to starbases. A minimum of 100 ore is required before refining can begin up to a limit of 3,000 ore per run. A breakdown is displayed in the refining pop-up which shows what the resulting output will be as well as the cost.

The mineral output will then be stored in the starbase. There currently is no limit set on the amount of ores or minerals that can be stored at a starbase.
